Environmental Impact Assessment EIA

Environmental impact assessment includes the identification and evaluation of possible significant impacts from design, and establishment of methods to prevent, remove, mitigate or rehabilitate the environmental and health hazards (Law – &quot: Off. Gazetter RM&quot< no.80/05).

The aim of EIA is to determine, describe and evaluate the possible direct and indirect impacts of the planned design onto:

• Life and health of people, flora and fauna,
• Soil, water, air, climate and landscape,
• Material goods and cultural heritage,
• Inter-relations of the said elements.

The subject of the EIA are projects to be planned and executed which may substantially impact the environment and health of people.

The subject of strategic environmental assessment (SEA) are plans an programs for cases where their implementation may cause severe consequences to the environment.
