TERNA Crna Gora (the Investor) will, in agreement with the Government of Montenegro, provide the transmission of power between Italy and Montenegro via an interconnection ± 500 kV HVDC submarine cable. In order to bury the north and south submarine cable, electrode cable and planned electrode, it was necessary to undertake a detailed geotechnical survey in the seabed and to develop the related Studies, as well. The purpose of the Studies was to define natural properties of the sea bottom and to make final selection of the optimal cable routes and position of the electrode. In order to ensure a sufficient database for the Studies development, it was necessary to perform the detailed geotechnical investigations in the target area.
At the request of the Investor “TERNA Crna Gora”, detailed geological survey of the sea floor was performed, and at the request of the Main contractors, in the period between 2013 and 2016 the exploration activities were monitored and geotechnical Studies of the results obtained from survey of the sea bed within the territorial water of Montenegro along the routes of north and south submarine cable, electrode cable and area of the planned electrode developed by Geoprojekt d.o.o Podgorica.
