Laboratory Testing

Geomechanical laboratory includes the following tests:
a. Identification – classificational tests:

• Particle – size distribution (JUS U.B1.018.),
• Natural water content in soil (JUS U.B1.012),
• Density of natural and dry soil (JUS U.B1.013),
• Density of solid particles (JUS U.B1.014),
• Consistency limits (JUS U.B1.020),
• Optimal water content – Proctor (JUS U.B1.038),
• California bearing ratio – CBR (JUS U.B1.042).

b. Mechanical properties of soil:

• Soil strength in direct shear apparatus (JUS U.B1.028),
• Compressibility and parameters of consolidation in oedometer (JUS U.B1.032).

c. Laboratory testing for physical – mechanical properties of solid rock mass samples

• Indirect measurement of uniaxial compressive strength (Point Load test – ASTM D573I, ISRM recommendations),
• Density (JUS B.B8.031).
